Just finished my event on Buddhist art and I need to compile my notes/review recordings. I just wanted to state something that pinged the video game nerd in me, a quote from the presentation.

In Japan "You conquer poison with poison, evil with evil." -Chief Curator Kakuyuki Mita of Nara National Museum. He went on to paraphrase 'It isn't the pure that banishes evil'

There was a lot of thoughts I have pinging around my brain, especially in regards to FFXV with Buddhist overtones. For instance there was talk of how, in Esoteric Buddhism, you would see statues/art which depict demon-ish looking figures wielding divine weapons. These weapons are meant to purge sickness ("Sickness" was the actual word used and the translator mentioned it could also mean 'evil)

Anyways yeah I'm nerding over like 8th century scrolls and now need to calm down to sleep. It was an AMAZING presentation/event the Japan Society of Boston put on with the Nara National Museum.

Hello to anybody who has stumbled upon this journal! I use this blog very rarely but that will probably be changing soon as I need a place to organize my chaotic thoughts.

Today's to do is mostly recovering from a cold and making notes on what I need to update for the ff15 link list. I REALLY want to promote that community more as a place to talk but we're all so ingrained into speaking on tumblr, discord and other socials that I've just been using it as a permanent digital footprint for anybody who needs resources there.

I'm working on hunting down the couple of FFXV cooking pdfs/sites/youtubes to add in the next couple days. I THINK I may need to find a way to place cuts on that post since it's getting long.

In non FFXV fandom news I'm waiting for the RPG Limit Break volunteer schedule to drop on the 27th to see if I'm on shift or just cheering over on bsky.
